A late sunrise
veils the trees
in morning mist.
Only winter brings
the gift of this

Exquisite. I so love this time of year.
I love it too, Margi, but this year was and still is exceptionally cold. Bring on spring!
Dear Mary, So beautiful
Thank you, dear Ellen, as we both enjoy and reflect on nature’s wonders.
Lovely to see one of your winter joys.
Yes, winter has its own unique beauty and will soon fade into a glorious spring.
i just learned a couple of weeks ago that this sort of sunlight goes by the name “crepuscular rays.” This is an especially lovely example of them. The “slant of light” makes me think of Emily Dickinson.
What an interesting little fact to discover about those ‘crepuscular rays.’ I’ll tuck this one away for future use. I took this photo on the spur of the moment from our back veranda. It proved to be one of those rare occasions when I managed a perfect capture, and what a joy it is when this happens!
Mary, your poem is a gift too. Thank you for reminding me that winter is beautiful in its own ways. I love how the sun shines through the branches of our trees that time of year… your words describe it perfectly.
Blessings ~ Wendy ❀
Wendy, thank you for leaving this lovely comment. Winter does have its moments as do all the seasons, yet it is a joy to observe the seasonal changes. They add variety to our lives.
