Hello Friends, Readers and Writers,
The Amazon kindle store has just published my book, Sparks. This is the final book that I will be writing. Its contents include thirty six pages of short stories in the genres of flash and micro fiction.
What can one say when writing flash fiction (1,000 words or fewer) or micro fiction (500 words or fewer)? Sparks presents a collection of short stories in which five different themes are explored: relationships, the arts, nature, the seasons and travel. To add variety, several pieces of non-fiction have also been included.
Flash and micro fiction has been written and read for many ages. Access to the internet has also enhanced our awareness of this genre through numerous online journals, devoted entirely to the style. Its brevity makes it easy to download flash fiction into your computer, electronic reader or smart phone.

Thank you for visiting me and I’ve enjoyed perusing your website.
No, thank you 🙂
Your website has proved entertaining on its own.One of my friends is really into gardening you see – and your website has provided a wealth of information to me to at least try to keep up in conversation.
Congratulations on your publication. Hope all goes well!
What a delight! Another blog friend published some flash fiction based on photos from the Smithsonian several years ago, and I enjoyed his unique tales and sardonic humor a good bit. Now, I have yours to look forward to. Congrats on seeing another through to completion!
Thank you, Linda. Flash fiction is a delight to write. Its brevity demands that every word must be carefully weighed and counted. A good discipline for any writer to engage in.
Your final book? But what will you do next? I have been trying to make short videos which tell a story. It’s very hard. When I make them I think it is the visual equivalent of micro or flash fiction. I have a lot of work to do to perfect my videos! I am sure your book will ‘spark’ some new ideas for me. 🙂
Thank you, Gallivanta, for your comment. Yes, this is the last book. I will be writing shorter blog pieces instead and the occasional photo essay for ezines.
How interesting that you are creating short videos. There is a growing market for these on Youtube and it would be a great idiom to be creative in. Keep us in the loop.
https://youtu.be/BW3j137xyrE This is my favourite effort so far. I hope you will give us links to any ezine pieces you do..
Oh Gallivanta, these short videos are a perfect delight. The beautiful photography at Millbrook Reserve accompanied by an ambient musical background are stunning. And – that cute little dog, with all his antics – very well done.
I’ll be watching for more.
Mary
Thank you, Mary. We are so fortunate to have so many ways to express our creativity. 🙂
Many thanks, Gallivanta for leaving this comment. Yes, the sky is the limit on what we can create. It is all such a joy!
So many congratulations on all your achievements. I can’t really believe this will be the last one…
Sparks will be my last book although I will continue to write. There are so many outlets for creative writing available I have yet to explore.
Wonderful news, Mary. Congratulations on your latest publication! All the very best and see you on the blog. 🙂
Many thanks, Iris. I’ll be back again on the regular blogging program in two weeks. Much to talk about as spring has arrived here at last.
